apeonfone is unusual among Pump.fun tokens in that it has both a deep on-chain pool and several centralized listings. That gives you a genuine choice, and the right answer depends on what you value: cost, custody or convenience.
Where FONE actually trades
- Centralized exchanges (CEX): Gate, MEXC, LBank, Ourbit, XT.COM and BingX all list FONE/USDT spot markets.
- Decentralized exchanges (DEX): the main FONE/SOL pool is on PumpSwap, with further pools on Meteora DLMM, Raydium and Orca. The Jupiter aggregator routes across all of them automatically.
Fees
| CEX (typical) | DEX on Solana | |
|---|---|---|
| Trading fee | 0.1% to 0.2% per side | 0.25% to 1% pool fee, plus a fraction of a cent in network fees |
| Deposit / withdrawal | Free deposit, fixed withdrawal fee per network | None, you hold the tokens directly |
| Hidden cost | Spread in thin books | Slippage and price impact on large swaps |
For small trades the two are close. For larger orders, a CEX with a deep FONE/USDT book is usually cheaper than pushing a big swap through a single pool.
Slippage and price impact
On a DEX, your swap moves the pool price. Jupiter shows the estimated price impact before you confirm; on FONE, anything above one to two percent means you should split the order or use a CEX. On a CEX you see the same thing as order book depth: if the visible bids and asks near the price are thin, a market order will walk the book.
Set DEX slippage tolerance to one to three percent. Setting it higher "to make the swap go through" is how people pay far more than they intended.
Custody and risk
- CEX: the exchange holds your FONE. You get password recovery and a familiar interface, but you also accept exchange risk, withdrawal limits and KYC.
- DEX: you hold the tokens in your own wallet. No one can freeze them, and no one can recover them if you lose the seed phrase or sign a malicious transaction. You are also the one responsible for using the right contract address.
Which should you use?
- First purchase, no wallet yet: CEX. Open FONE/USDT on Gate or MEXC, place a limit order, done.
- Already on Solana with SOL in Phantom: DEX via Jupiter, pasting the verified contract
CTPoyCwkjMvoJwU4xvZZqoD8tiYk6yDchySiN5gGpump. - Large order: CEX with the deepest book, or split the DEX swap into several smaller ones.
- Long-term hold: buy wherever is cheapest, then withdraw to a wallet you control.
Whichever route you take, check the live market cap, volume and liquidity on our main guide first. Those three numbers tell you more about what your order will cost than any fee table.
